Balochistan Rocked by Devastating Earthquakes

On Tuesday September 24th Balochistan was struck by a powerful 7.8 magnitude Earthquake.  At a depth of 20km, some 60km north-east of Arawan, the Earthquake was felt as far away as India’s capital Delhi.  At least 145 Deaths have been confirmed, with many more Trapped beneath the rubble.  Thus far, International response to the disaster seems minimal if at all.  Although civil rescue workers and paramedics were already on the scene, Pakistan has deployed a Paramilitary Force of at least 200 Soldiers to take over rescue operations.

Only one day following Taliban Military commander Mullah Baradar's release on September 21st, Taliban Suicide Bombers attacked a Christian Church in Peshawar killing 81 and wounding 140 Christians.  Taliban representatives claim the attack was in retaliation to US Drone Strikes, and is the work of a “splinter group”.  Yet Sunday’s Brutal Attack on the All Saints Christian Church in no way combats or prevents drone strikes.

The Taliban has long maintained strict opposition to all non-Sunni Muslim minorities.  The Taliban openly practice a policy of Persecution and Extermination of Christians, Jews, Hindus, Shiite Muslims, and anyone or anything else they consider “Un-Islamic”.  Rather than promoting Islam, the Taliban attempts to enforce Islam.  The Taliban policy of ethnic intolerance is in-fact destructive to Islam and perpetuates an already negative international perception of Muslims.

Although you can force a *man to task, you can force a man to clothe, you can even force a man to death, but you can never force a man to believe, for the mind of man is his own and is so by design.  To doubt this design is to doubt God.
It is deeply troubling that the Pakistani State has so openly aligned themselves with such Extremist ideologies.

On September 16th Hit Squads killed 2 in the Mand region of Balochistan.  In Braho Reke, Hameed Gong was gunned down, and in Bravi Village Pir Baksh was also shot dead.  In the small town of Sibbi, on Monday, unidentified gunmen killed Ali Mohammed.  In Quetta, an unidentified body was found dumped in the Killi Kamalo area.

Violence in Dera Bugti continued on the 17th.  Waheed Bugti and Ali Bugti were killed by Pakistan Security Forces in Dera Bugti.  Naseem Baloch was gunned down by Pakistni hit squads in Paroom Panjgoor.  In Khuzdar, Mohmmad Hafiz was shot dead, and In the remote Barkhan village, a Marri tribes person was abducted by Pakistani Agents.

Pakistan Conducts Ethnic Cleansing Campaign in Dera Bugti Balochistan

The Attacks earlier this month in Panjgur were but a prelude to this week’s All-Out Siege of the Dera Bugti - Sui regions.  As of September 12th, Pakistani Military Forces began an Intense Military Offensive against the residents of Dera Bugti.  Pat Feeder, Mohan Pat, RD-248, and Kattan were hit hardest during the Attack which encompassed the entire district.  The Dera Bugti Villagers were Beaten and Forced from their homes by Pakistani Security Forces.  Their houses were then Looted of all Valuables and set Ablaze.  During the Attack Pakistani agents Abducted 8 residents, several of whom were Women & Children.  At least 10 Civilians were Wounded by the indiscriminate Firing and intense Shelling of the Sui area.

Pakistan Security Forces continue their Fierce Campaign of Abductions throughout Balochistan.  On September 12th 10 Baloch civilians were Abducted from the Mand district.  The next day in Panjgur three Abductions were reported.  Haifz Tahir s/o Mulvi Adul Qadir & his brother Zahir were Abducted in Panjgur, and a Tasp district Student, Rahiees s/o Abdul Kaliq, was Abducted while travelling home from College.

In Quetta, Dozens have been reported as Abducted by State Agents during door-to-door searches on September 12th.  The next day in Mezan Chowk, Quetta, Security Forces opened Fire on the residents Killing one and Wounding another.  On September 14th in nearby Mangochar, Hassan Balach was Abducted by Pakistan State Agents.

Pakistan has expanded its Abduction Campaigns to include the Sindh regions.  In Tangwani, Sindh, 5 Baloch were Abducted by ISI Agents.  Even the Sindh are not exempt from Pakistan’s policy of Enforced Disappearances.  In Kalat 3 Sindhis; Junijo, Zameer & Asghar were Abducted earlier today.

In Geneva Switzerland a conference was organized by Baloch Political Activist Nawabzada Mehran Marri.  At the conference Mehran Marri delivered an inspiring speech detailing the ongoing Crisis in Balochistan.  In his speech Mehran Marri stated “Many prominent Baloch leaders including Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, Balach khan Marri, Ghulam Mohammad Baloch, Sher Mohammad Baloch and Lala Muneer Baloch Have been brutally killed by Pakistani army. More than 80000 Bugti and Marri have been forced to leave their native towns and migrated to internal Balochistan, Sindh and even thousands of them went to neibouring country Afghanistan, due to ongoing military operation in their areas.”

Pakistan more willing to accommodate Extremist Taliban Terrorists than Baloch Seperatists.

In an “All Parties Conference” on September 9th, the Pakistan government agreed to schedule peace talks with the Extremist Taliban Militants.  Representatives from the mainstream political parties in Pakistan gathered at the conference to not only unanimously agree to negotiate with the Terrorist organization, but to also release the infamous Mullah Brother, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.  In addition to the release of the former 2nd in command of the Afghan Taliban, seven other Taliban prisoners have been released during the past few days.

It seems rather ironic the party representatives would side with extremist war criminals rather than the moderate secular movement of the Baloch Separatists.  Although the communities of ethnic minorities in Pakistan have been relentlessly victimized by the Taliban, and their affiliates, the attending party members chose to embrace the Taliban extremists with open arms.  The Taliban negations have been publicized under the pretense of establishing peace thus eliminating the need for US Drone strikes.  The APC became a forum for political leaders in Pakistan to lash out at the United States.

Pakistan’s ongoing co-operation with various terrorist organizations is what aggravated the United States in the first place resulting in the drone strikes.  Had the Pakistan Military not confronted the Pakistan Taliban with military force, the United States would have.  With the current Chinese interests in Balochistan, Pakistan’s government now feels confident enough to openly defy NATO demands and welcome the Taliban’s presence.

The reality is that Pakistan is quickly placing itself in the center of a much larger conflict.  Should a treaty be established with the Taliban, it’s likely the drone strikes and NATO aggression will intensify.  I fail to see how provoking an already aggressive foreign super power benefits the people of Pakistan.  Rather the outcome of the APC will in all probability increase the violence and suffering.   This is especially true of the Balochistan region where the Pakistan government had previously permitted and encouraged the Taliban to occupy and base their operations.

During the press conference, representatives stated another APC in Quetta would be scheduled to discuss the violence in Balochistan.  Unlike the Taliban, the Baloch Separatist forces have never committed acts of violence against civilian targets.   Yet not one single Baloch detainee has been released and no efforts have been made to negotiate with the Baloch Separatist Parties.
The Pakistani Armed Forces have again intensified their operations in the Bugti regions surrounding Gwadar Port, Balochistan.

On September 1st the Pakistani state agents began conducting operations in the town of Panjgur.  A man was abducted in the Sarduk area of Panjgur.  Nearby in Mand, Sher Mohammad’s vehicle was stopped by Pakistani forces who then abducted him and his son Aman.

Sunday September 1st In Malir, Karachi, PPP Death Squad; Peoples Aman Committee, killed Jalil Ahmed Baloch.  The next day 2 young Baloch school boys were abducted from Babu Mullha area of Kalat.  The Peoples Aman Committee was considered defunct after being classified as a terrorist group and subsequently banned in 2011.  Their recent activities in Balochistan indicate the notorious organization is indeed quite actively participating in the systematic genocide of the Baloch.

The assault in Panjgur intensified on Monday September 2nd, when Pakistan’s armed forces opened fire on the house of Abdul Bab in Chitkan.  A man named Jahanzaib was killed by unidentified gunmen in the nearby village of Hoshab.  In Zedi Khuzdar Pakistani agents abducted Master Abdul Hameed s/o Mohmmad.  On Tuesday September 3rd in Panjgur, Attaullah s/o Dad Mohmmad and Haneef s/o Rasheed were abducted by Pakistani forces.

Pakistan Demonstrates their Violent Enforcement of Media Censorship in Balochistan

Six months ago, Haji Abdul Razzaq Baloch, Esteemed journalist and editor at the Urdu language news outlet “Daily Tawar”, was abducted by Pakistan state agents in Karachi.  The Daily Tawar is one of the few regional news outlets reporting the ongoing genocide in Balochistan.  Despite having changed their office on a number of occasions due to ongoing threats and abductions of staff, the Daily Tawar continues to report the atrocities committed by Pakistan state agencies in Balochistan.

Razzaq’s disfigured remains were recovered in the Lyari area of Karachi on August 22nd.  Reports indicate his body was mutilated beyond recognition and his family was barely able to recognize him.  So far of the seven journalists killed in Pakistan this year, four of them were killed in Balochistan.  Pakistan’s efforts to censor the reporting of their Baloch genocide only serves to illustrate their attempt to obscure the genocide they continue to conduct in Balochistan.

As well as Abdul Razzaq, the bodies of 2 other Baloch abductees were also recently recovered in Karachi.  On August 23rd it was reported the bodies of Muhammad Ramzan and Abdul Ghafoor were found in Surjani Town.   These tactics of dumping the bodies of extra-judicially killed Baloch outside the Balochistan province, especially in the nearby town of Karachi, is the ages old method of deceit through misdirection.  By placing the bodies in the neighboring province of Sindh the Pakistan State Agencies are diluting the statistics to lessen the gravity of the situation in Balochistan.

On August 23rd four bodies were discovered.  In the Killi Chashma area of Kalat the mutilated remains of Muhammad Irfan was recovered.   Only three days later, the bullet-riddled body of BRP activist Gulla Khan Bugti was recovered in Thangwani Naseerabad.

Monday August 26th marked the 7th anniversary of martyrdom of Nawab Akbar Bugti.  Balochistan engaged in a province wide shutter-down strike in observance of the anniversary of Nawab Akbar’s martyrdom.  During this strike many shopkeepers throughout the region were harassed and abducted for refusing to violate the BRP strike call on this day of mourning.
